Force Motors has officially revealed the new 2013 Gurkha in New Delhi today – marking its official launch in the country. The Gurkha is Force Motors’ hardcore SUV that caters to a niche market and has a large fan-following amongst the off-road enthusiast community. Based on the older Mercedes Benz G-wagen platform, the Force Motors Gurkha manages to be a potent off-roader.

The downer however is the OM616 engine. It is a 2.6-litre diesel mill that produces a little over 80 PS of power and 230 Nm of torque and is mated to a five speed transmission and a 4x4 drivetrain. The downside however, is that the engine is only BSIII compliant and will therefore prevent the new Gurkha from being sold in the BSIV cities. The BSIV version will be available at a later stage, hints Force Motors.

As we had revealed in our exclusive spyshots, the new Gurkha wears the Force One’s alloy wheels and also features redesigned headlights, bumper and grille. The vehicle also comes with sporty roof rails on the hardtop model while a lower spec soft top model is also being offered.

The prices for the updated Force Motors Gurkha are as follows:

Force Motors Gurkha 2WD Soft Top – Rs 6.25 lakh
Force Motors Gurkha 4WD Soft Top – Rs 8.35 lakh
Force Motors Gurkha 4WD Hard Top – Rs 8.5 lakh

The Force Motors Gurkha will compete with the Mahindra Thar and the Maruti Suzuki Gypsy.
